June 2010

NEW PRODUCT

I’ve always wondered what my art work would look like on fabric, and now I know. These little pillows (10”x12”) would look cute on a wicker chair or on a bed in your guest room. Pillows are available in these two designs or in any of my lighthouse images (see GALLERIES page on my website) for $20 each plus shipping.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Wow---the Michigan events calendar is just filled with summer festivals! I hope you can take in a few of them this summer and enjoy some fun art, food, and entertainment. Right now the Lilac Festival on Mackinac Island is the big event coming up in my professional life. There are so many things to see and do during the week of June 11-20. You can get a schedule at www.mackinacislandlilacfestival.org so you don’t miss a thing! If you see me painting around town, please stop and say hello.

Next month I hope to visit the Traverse City area during the National Cherry Festival (July 3-10). Check their website (www.cherryfestival.org) for information on events.

LILAC MEMORIES

Some of my paintings are reminding my readers of long ago. Karen wrote to me about memories she has of her grandmother’s huge lilac bush and how she would “sit on the back porch in the sunshine and enjoy the lilac scented breeze blowing by. (Grandma) would give me these old-fashioned black and silver scissors and tell me to cut a few branches to bring into the house,” Karen recalls. “There is nothing like the sweet smell of fresh lilacs!” Thank you, Karen, for sharing this sweet memory. How about you? Do you have any lilac memories? Please email me--I’d love to hear your stories!

MACKINAC ISLAND MEDITATIONS

When you’re looking for a souvenir of your stay on the island, or if you want to recall fond memories of a previous trip there, consider buying my book. It’s 32 pages full of paintings and thoughts inspired by scenes on beautiful Mackinac Island.

QUOTE FOR THE MONTH

While attending the Spring Art Walk in Traverse City, I stepped backward to get a better view of a particularly detailed painting. As I did so, I crashed into a fellow art viewer. She and I both excused ourselves, laughed, then she gave me this advice: “Always forward, woman; always forward!” I will try to remember that!
